Marcus Tullius was a resident of Pompeii He has a tomb outside the Stabian Gate, which was provided for by by decree of the duumvirs. History records that a Marcus Tullius was military tribune and served twice as duumvir in the city of Pompeii. Graffiti attributes to Tullius has been found in Pompeii

"A hunt, and twenty pairs of gladiators belonging to Marcus Tullius will fight at Pompeii on November 4-7." (CIL IV.3.4 #9979)

Marcus Tullius also provided funds for the building of the The Temple of Fortuna Augusta on his own land which lies at the corner of Via del Foro and Via della Fortuna. The inscription on the architrave of the shrine at the rear of the cella translates as:

Marcus Tullius the son of Marcus, duumvir with judiciary authority for the third time, quinquennial duumvir, augur and military tribune by the choice of the people, erected this temple to Fortuna Augusta on his own ground and at his own expense
