Thrinacia
Thrinakia is mentioned in Book 11 of Homer's Odyssey, is the island home of Helios's cattle, guarded by his eldest daughter, Lampetia. It is sometimes said to have been Sicily, since the name Thrinacia could be taken to imply a connection to the number three and Sicily has three corners. However the island is also associated with Malta. Being fictional and without any other further information it is not possible to be certain where on Sicily he would have landed but for our purposes the modern day city of Siracusa has been chosen given that Messina is thought to be the ancient land of Skylla and Ogygia is thought to be Malta.
It is here that Odysseus and his crew foolishly slaughter the cattle while Odysseus sleeps. It is clear that after three years he has lost if crew physically and and mentally and has virtually no authority over them. Helios asks Zeus to punish Odysseus and his men. Shortly after they set sail from Thrinacia, Zeus kicks up yet another storm, which destroys the ship and what is left of the mutinous crew perishes beneath the waves. As had been predicted, only Odysseus survives.
