Newsheadline.jpgClimate Impact Risk Set to Increase

11/18/2011 The risk from extreme weather events are likelt to increase further if the climate continues to warm....

A report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change said it was "very likely" that emissions had led to an increase in daily maximum temperatures.

It added that emissions had also led some regions experiencing longer and more intense droughts. The findings of the Special Report were presented at the IPCC's 34th Session, which is being held in Kampala, Uganda. They said that extreme event were still relatively scarce so evidence is still not conclusive but what they were seeing was increasing drought events and cyclone/hurricane activity. Small island and coastal regions continue to vulnerable and the emergence of mega-cites, especially in developing countries was inpacting the fragile eco systems.
